The SCION project is the second venture into the OE supply chain for Bazooka Mobile Audio. For this project, Bazooka modified its legendary 8-inch Amplified Bass Tube Enclosure with specialized, quick-release brackets, custom-built T-harness for quick connection, and packaged it with all necessary hardware, templates, and materials needed to complete the installation. The kit will also be available at Toyota Dealers nationwide as a Dealer installed option for those consumers who decide after the vehicle’s purchase that they’d like to add some real bass to the existing OE system.

SCION, the new brand of vehicles built by Toyota, and aimed squarely at the youth market, is slated for nationwide rollout in January. For nearly 6 months, the vehicles have been available for sale in California, and have all been available with a port-installed Bazooka Bass Tube. The initial response from consumers and dealers in California has been phenomenal. According to Derek Tircuit, Product Specialist from Bazooka, “The SCION subwoofer is great. It’s definitely not you’re Father’s OE audio system. The SCION head units include equalization that really gets the Bazooka pumping!”

The SCION group contacted Bazooka on the heels of the successful launch in early 2002 of the Bass Tube in the Toyota Matrix. The group felt that the Bazooka Subwoofer was a natural fit into the SCION and into the demographic the cars aim for. “The cars looks are so hip, you just know it’s got to have a rocking system” notes Korey Tsuno from Toyota Motor Sales. He continues, “The Bazooka Bass Tube adds the thump this car deserves!” As a port installed option, the Bazooka comes with a 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty included. The SCION is available in two models—the radically designed Xb and the more traditionally styled Xa. Both models start at around $13,000, and have a host of available options, including the Bazooka. Power windows and locks, keyless entry is standard, as is the Toyota build quality and reliability that has made Toyota the premier automobile manufacturer. A SCION equipped with the Bazooka Subwoofer System will be on display in the Bazooka Mobile Audio Booth, number 414, at the CES show in January.
